This year at International Jewellery London, there was a great selection of more traditional as well as contemporary jewellery.
One of our favourites was 'Momocreatura:
'Momocreatura' - beautiful pieces as seen at IJL, 2010
Momo studied fine arts and jewellery making in Japan and graduated MA Design: jewellery at Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design.
Her jewellery explores the boundaries between reality and fantasy through the depiction of fairy-tale inspired images. Influenced by European antique jewellery of the 16th-19th century and post-war Japanese sub culture, her references combine to create figurative macabre objects.
They are more like 3D illustration or wearable miniature sculptures rather than fashionable jewellery. The silver and gold pieces are finely handcrafted assemblages of child-like imagination, suggestive of ambiguous, twisted humour.
Kim Pace trained in Fine Art, receiving her MA in sculpture. She also studied Personal Styling at the London College of Fashion. Kim is a highly respected artist who has initiated and completed many creative projects over the years. She has also lectured widely, such as the University of the Arts, London, the Royal College of Art and numerous other universities, including in the USA and Australia. Kim has enhanced and honed her communication skills and identity awareness through a stimulating blend of professional, personal and creative developmental experiences and courses.
Dorry de Plume has an honours degree in Fine Art, has studied Costume Design at Central St Martins, London, and focused on researching identity whilst she was at University.
